About a month ago, I took a trip with a club i'm in called, 4-h. I went with people of all ages from around the state of arkansas that are all in 4-h. I made some new friends, lauren, and danicka.
I had to get up at 2:30 in the morning and leave my house by 3. I had to be down in Little Rock by 7 cuz the charter bus i would be riding was leaving at 7 that morning. We figured it would take us about 4 hours to get down there but it only took us about 3 hours and 15 minutes. We arrived at the university where we would be boarding the charter bus at 6:15. On our way there my heart monitor batteries died. Luckily we still 45 minutes before i left to be able to go to the store and get new ones.
I loaded the bus and didnt know hardly anyone. We drove 2 hours down to Hope, AR. In Hope, we picked up more 4-h’ers. From there it took us about 7 hours to get to Baton Rouge, LA. We were going to be attending the LSU college veterinary days. Saturday morning we went to the college and spent almost all day. We spent about 8 hours at the college just walking around and seeing what all they had. I seen a fistulated cow and stuck my hand inside its side. A fistulated cow is a cow that has a hole in its side that goes right to its stomach. It makes a certain type of something that other cows may not produce. They are then able to just reach inside and get the processed food and feed it to the other cow. And yes, this cow is alive the entire time, and no, it doesn't hurt the cow. I also saw lots of animals hearts, lungs, and other organs. I saw all sorts of small animals, and a baby cow! I got to watch a horse on a treadmill and was explained why they use the treadmills for the horses. I saw some waildlife like a hawk, owl, tiger, and vulcher. All these animals were alive too! i had so much fun! I hope they do it again next year so i can go again!
